Crossroads of America
Scout Band 2001 Tour
Day 1

Today was our first day out.  Leaving from Camp Belzer, some of us already tired from camping out all night with the cub scouts, some of us more tired because they didn't sleep last night anyway......

Jeannie did a wonderful job driving us through the mountains, and along a VERY winding road with sheer cliffs that seemed to go down forever.  We went to Hawks Nest Park in West Virginia and took the tram down to the New River Gorge where we took a jetboat ride from the dam to the New River Gorge Bridge, we were told that on Bridge Day they have several hundred people parachute (base jump) from the bridge, and that they have just enough time to get the chutes open.

Well, here are some pictures from today.....

Everybody is ready to go!

Scott seems to want to crawl under the covers for some reason....

Here's Miss Jeannie with Shawn

Warning, Shawn is all grown up now and DRIVING!  (and Miss Jeannie is a little shorter than Shawn)

Looking down the tramway into the New River Gorge.

I am NOT afraid of hights, I AM NOT afraid of hights!

Too bad Sylvia couldn't come with us, first we went under the New River Gorge Bridge, then later, we went over it!  Notice that there were rapids on either side of that bolder!

Everybody stayed ship shape!

What a view of the gorge on the way back!

More Tomorrow, stay tuned, same band time, same band channel.
