The Harvey U. Gill Memorial Scout Dixieland Band Not too much is known about the history of this special group within the scout band only that for a VERY long time there has been a group of the more advanced players and adults who love to play dixieland music. Since the sixties, the dixieland band has been an integral part of many of the band concerts and recently has been playing for small scout gatherings alone. Since 1968 at least the dixieland band has been playing the same ten pieces (so by now we ought to be pretty good :). A few years or so ago, Randy Decker and Tom O'Nan came up with some more music, some of the original dixieland band stuff, and since then Tom has been having the band practice on the newer pieces.   Debbie Wheat is the current Director of the Dixieland Band and continues in that tradition.   Tom will keep the practice schedule up as it becomes known. SO, COME ON DOWN TO DIXIELAND AND PLAY!
