Today is our third day, it was a long day for us, we played
TWO concerts!
Our first was at Brainerd, MN where we played for Paul Bunyon and
his Blue Ox.
After that we left for North Dakota where we met the River Board
Lewis and Clark and
the Dixieland provided a little entertainment for the passengers.
We asked if Paul wouldn't like to play one of our big drums, but
he said he didn't know how to play
a snare drum (well for him it would have been)
He was just satisfied with giving us a bit of a listen along with
the crowd.
During the concert, we had a little treat from some of our scouting
friends from Deluth MN.
Bob Greenburg on Tuba, his sons David on trumpet and Josh on Sax.
You'll notice that nobody else is playing. Well TubaBob and
his sons were doing a really
fantastic job on a special rendition of the Macarena (the bull
fighting song, not the Hey Macarena song)
David on the trumpet was doing most of the work!
GREAT JOB!
After the concert, Paul talked to us (really HE DID) and thanked
us for coming.
Personally, this really was a GREAT CONCERT! Even though
it was a little short.
Here's the River Boat Lewis and Clark ported in Bismark ND where
the Dixieland Band did a great concert for those
on board. Even though, it was raining really hard, and it
was too dark, the guys and gals did a great job!
Adam Thomas still thinks it was bad, but he really did a great
Tiger Rag Solo! Josh Lyon also did a great job
on the drums. Crystal Heitzman was great, playing tenor sax
with poison ivy on her lip :(
Shawn Smock remembered his horn this year :) and did great on trumpet
as did Chris Murphy and Charlie Dickson
on trombone! And we don't want to forget Eldon Lorenzen on
Bass Horn who was nearly blown overboard by the storms winds. (OK, the
old folks did pretty well too)
OK, after the Dixieland concert, we discovered, that the storms
had been blown away, then we went below and
enjoyed a fine pizza dinner.
[Hmmm, are those UFO's up there?]
This may or may not be the last update for a while, it will depend
on the security arrangements at the military base
we are going to next.
We'll see you soon!
